An Bíobla Naofa is a translation of the Bible into Irish by Monsignor Pádraig Ó Fiannachta. Monsignor Ó Fiannachta’s love for the Irish language and Irish culture and folklore was evident in all his works. He was professor of Modern Irish at Maynooth College before returning to his native Dingle.
He has written extensively on Irish Folklore, edited countless books and published poetry. One of his greatest achievements is An Bíobla Naofa of which he was editor and translator.
This is a beautiful hardback copy bound in red leather binding with gilt lettering and motifs on front cover and spine. Our copy is a first edition and was published in 1981.
It has numerous colour illustrations with maps on inside of book covers. Inside front and rear covers have gold borders and all page edges are tinted in gold leaf.
This is a large book weighing over 5Kg. The dimensions are 11″ long, 9″ wide and 2 1/2″ thick.
