The unique life story of a former Dundalk based Customs Officer is told in Border Bandits and Delicate Flowers.
The book is a collection of 80 stories of people, places and events, which the author has recalled over the past 65 years.
J.J served with Customs in Castleblayney and in Dundalk from early December 1965 to May 1967. He has devoted an entire chapter to his experiences of living along the border.
The book also traces his life growing up on a small farm and post office in north Kerry from1940s to 1960s. He has an account of getting his “first real job” at Equitable Life Assurance in New York
Although J.J went on to become a Court Clerk he speaks in detail of the transformative years he spent living and working along the border.
