This is the text, in Irish, of a diary kept by Humphrey O Sullivan between 1827 and 1835 while living in Callan, County Kilkenny, and working as a teacher. The entries concern many everyday events and descriptions of wildlife, nature and weather.
National events such as famine, Catholic emancipation, Daniel O’ Connell’s Repeal movement, and the general state of Ireland at the time also feature in the diary.
