This comprehensive survey of the Dingle Peninsula includes a description of the field antiquities of the Barony of Corca Dhuibhne from the Mesolitic Period to the 17th Century AD.
The survey was commissioned by Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhe in 1986. The resulting book is a work of scholarship. The lead author Judith Cuppage and her fellow writers can take great pride in their achievement.
Included in the book is a detailed description and map of the promontory fort at Dunbeg, Fahan. Sadly this fort was severely damaged during violent storms in recent years.
This is just one example of the fine work undertaken by the authors. Without this book our knowledge of the area would be sadly inadequate.
