Wilson was a physician, naturalist, ornithologist, painter and naturalist on both of Robert Scott’s expeditions to the Antarctic. He was one of three who undertook a winter expedition to the rookeries of the Emperor penguin, the subject of Cherry Apsley-Garrard’s book “The Worst Journey in the World”.
On the “Terra Nova” voyage, he was one of the group who raced to reach the South Pole, only to find that Amundsen had beat the British there.
On the return journey, he and his companions died, a national tragedy in England at the time.
Our copy was published in November 1933 by John Murray. The book is in excellent condition but does not have any dust jacket. There are 15 sketches by Wilson and 1 photo portrait. The books contains 3 maps, one of which is a folding map. Overall the book is in remarkable condition for its age.
