Purnell’s History of the Second World War was a hugely successful weekly anthology publication covering all aspects of World War 11. The magazine was distributed throughout the English-speaking world. The series began publication in 1966, just 21 years after the end of the war.
The magazine was notable for its use of multiple writers – many of them well-known military figures – from all relevant nationalities in order to present a rounded view of the subject material.
This was combined with high-quality original artwork of the military hardware used, maps and numerous photographs.
Our set of magazines is not quite complete. We have volumes 1 – 6 which comprised of 96 issues in total. We have 95 issues out of the 96 issued in those 6 volumes.
The magazines are in good condition but we do not have the binders for them.
