Maurice Walsh was born in 1879 in Ballydonoghue, Co Kerry. He worked as an excise officer and became a whiskey connoisseur.
He came to world wide attention as the the author of The Quiet Man.
His other novels include, The Key above the Door, The Small Dark Man and Blackcock’s Feather.
This is the definitive biography of Walsh. The book was published by now defunct Brandon Press of Dingle, in 1985.
